Invest in Your Future
The Financial Aid department at Performance Training Institute is ready and willing to assist you with all of your questions and the completion of your financial aid process. Here is a simple breakdown of what students can expect regarding their financial aid process when enrolling:
- Our Admissions department will transfer students to the Financial Aid department if they have general questions about financial aid.
- When students decide to enroll at Performance Training Institute, they will be scheduled for a financial aid appointment by the Admissions department. Each Admissions Specialist is assigned to a specific Financial Aid Specialist that will be the primary person working with that student; however, students can always speak to any of our Financial Aid Specialists during their initial financial aid process, as well as throughout their enrollment.
- The financial aid appointment will include all pertinent information regarding the student’s financial aid eligibility, responsibilities, and requirements, as well as the completion of our online financial aid application. The Financial Aid Specialist will continue to assist you with the completion of your financial aid file. Once your file is complete, it is submitted to the Manager of Financial Aid and Student Accounts. Once your financial aid file is approved by the manager of the department, the Enrollment Coordinator is notified that the student is financially clear for enrollment.
- Once a student is enrolled, the Financial Aid department will continually communicate with students to notify them of any updates, award letters, and any other required information pertaining to their financial aid at Performance Training Institute.
Please feel free to contact our Financial Aid department at (877) 841-5060 x515 should you have any questions.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: What kind of financial aid is available at Performance Training Institute?
- Federal Pell Grants and Direct Stafford Loans are available to those who qualify. We also work with a private lender, Tuition Options, to assist students with any gap between what they owe and what they are eligible to receive in federal funding.
Q: How do I apply for financial aid at Performance Training Institute?
- The first step is to complete your Federal Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov. You must include our school code (036253) to have your official FAFSA report sent to our institution. This report will indicate your financial aid eligibility and our Financial Aid department can explain this information to you.
Q: Do I have to pay back Pell Grant and Direct Stafford Loan funds?
- The government offers Pell Grants to those who qualify and they do not have to be paid back – it is grant money that is applied directly to your educational expenses. Direct Stafford Loans must be requested by students who qualify and they DO have to be paid back.
Q: When do I have to pay back my Direct Stafford Loans?
- Direct Stafford Loans are due for repayment six months after your last date of attendance, whether you withdraw or graduate.
Q: Can I receive enough federal Pell Grant funding to cover the cost of my tuition and fees?
- The current maximum Pell Grant award is $5,550 per award year and is not enough to cover the entire cost of tuition and fees at our institution. Students must either take out loans to cover the remaining cost of their education and/or provide some other form of payment.
Q: Can I pay cash for my education at Performance Training Institute?
- Yes – Performance Training Institute does offer a cash payment plan. Please speak to our Admission and/or Financial Aid departments to receive more detailed information.
Q: Can I apply for any other types of financial aid at Performance Training Institute?
- Performance Training Institute only works with the federal Pell Grant, Direct Stafford Loans, and Tuition Options. There are possible resources available such as scholarships and tuition reimbursement from your employer; however, students are responsible for researching and applying for those funds on their own. If you find alternative funding that you feel you qualify for, please speak to our Financial Aid department to see if the funding can be applied to your balance at Performance Training Institute.
Q: What happens to my financial aid if I withdraw from Performance Training Institute?
- Students who receive financial assistance from Title IV programs (Federal Pell Grant, Campus Based Programs, Direct Stafford Loans, and PLUS Loans) and withdraw from school prior to completing more than 60% of the payment period are subject to the Return of Title IV Funds requirements of the U.S. Department of Education. When a student withdraws from Performance Training Institute, the Student Accounts department determines the funding that has been received, what funds the institution is eligible to keep to apply toward any student balance, and what funds, if any, must be returned as per federal regulation. All future funding is cancelled immediately upon withdrawal. In general students will have a balance on their account if they withdraw; however, if you have a credit balance on your account as a result of your withdrawal, the funds will be returned to the student or the lender, depending on the student’s request upon enrollment. The Student Accounts department will contact you to discuss all of this information within 30 days of your determined date of withdrawal.
Q: Do I have to pay back my loans if I withdraw from Performance Training Institute?
- Withdrawal prior to graduation does not relieve the student of the responsibility to complete payment on any student loans that may be outstanding after the School has made appropriate refunds. Withdrawal prior to graduation may result in the loss of Title IV funding. Loss of Title IV funding does not relieve the student of contractual obligation to the School. The Student Accounts department can assist you with this information.
Q: What if I want to cancel my financial aid at Performance Training Institute?
- Students always have the right to cancel any financial aid that has been requested at Performance Training Institute; however, we are not able to cancel funds that have already been received and applied to your account. Students must submit a signed written request in order for Performance Training Institute to cancel expected funding. The Financial Aid department will send you financial aid award letters at the beginning of each academic year during your enrollment, that indicate the Pell Grant and Direct Loan funding that has been requested. Every award letter has an attached form that you can complete in order to cancel some or all of your financial aid. Students will also receive EFT Notifications every time funds are received and applied to their account during their enrollment. Student have 14 days from the date the school sends the notice to submit a written request to cancel a portion or all of the amounts listed on the notice. Funding will be cancelled immediately by Performance Training Institute upon receipt of your signed written request. Please keep in mind that payment for your education must be provided in order to maintain enrollment. Funding is automatically cancelled if a student withdraws from our program.
