CS 814 Word Processing (60 clock / 3.5 credit hours)
This course provides a beginning through intermediate level of understanding of Word Processing using Microsoft Word. Subjects covered include editing and proofreading documents, changing the look of text and paragraphs, presenting information in columns and tables, working with graphics as well as diagrams and charts, creating form letters and labels, tracking and managing document changes, and creating and modifying a web document. Practice exercises, online case studies, and discussion forums are included to reinforce the course material.
CS 815 Spreadsheets (60 clock / 3.5 credit hours)
This course provides a beginning through intermediate level of a spreadsheet package using Microsoft Excel. Topics covered include setting up a workbook, performing calculations on data, changing document appearance, using filters, analyzing data sets, creating dynamic lists and charts, creating and modifying macros, working with database data, publishing information on the web, and collaborating with colleagues. Practice exercises, LMS case studies, and discussion forums are included to reinforce the course material.
CS 816 Graphical Presentations (60 clock / 3.5 credit hours)
This course provides a beginning through intermediate level of understanding of Graphical Presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint. Topics covered include starting a new presentation, working with slide text documents, adjusting the layout and look of slides, adding tables and charts, enhancing slides with graphics, adding animation and sound, reviewing and sharing a presentation, delivering a presentation electronically, and setting up a presentation for web viewing. Practice exercises, LMS case studies, and discussion forums are included to reinforce the course material.
CS 817 Database Management (60 clock / 3.5 credit hours)
This course provides a basic level of understanding of a database management system using Microsoft Access. Topics covered include creating and populating a database, sharing and reusing information, simplifying data entry by using forms, locating specific information, keeping the information accurate, working with reports, making the database easy to use, and securing and sharing information from the database. Practice exercises, LMS case studies, and discussion forums are included to reinforce the course material.
