Qualifications

Applicants for admission to Performance Training Institute must possess a high school diploma or the equivalent (GED), and access or the ability to access Internet and email. Applicants for the online programs will be required to take the Wonderlic Scholastic Level Exam – Quick Test (SME – Q) online, and must score in the “Pursue” range as defined by Wonderlic. Applicants for admission to the online school will be interviewed over the phone by an admissions representative to determine the applicant’s vocational objectives, motivation, determination and attitude towards completing the training and entering full-time employment.

What to Expect

The admissions representative will review with the applicant all of the pertinent information regarding the online programs and procedures, including course data sheets, program catalog, pricing sheet, enrollment agreement, and other miscellaneous forms, all of which will be available to students online or in hard copy form. Careful steps are taken to ensure that applicants fully understand their rights, responsibilities and obligations to the school. These same steps are taken to ensure that applicants fully understand the school’s responsibilities to them as well.

After the applicant has taken and passed the Wonderlic Exam (SME – Q) and completed the required questionnaire, he or she will be directed to a Performance Training Institute financial aid officer to determine his or her need and eligibility for financial aid. The financial aid officer will assist the applicant through the application process. This may include offering assistance with the required financial aid documents, explaining and creating repayment plans and obligations, and answering the questions needed to ensure that all of our students are well-informed applicants. The applicant then signs and returns the required admissions and financial aid documents necessary for enrollment. When it is determined that the applicant possesses the traits, qualities and means to enter and successfully complete the training program, the enrollment agreement will be completed by school officials and the applicant will be officially enrolled as a student.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What kind of text books will I be receiving?

  • Physical books are provided to our students before each class starts. E-books are electronic books that are read digitally on your computer or laptop screen. We have found that e-books are not as convenient to our students. They cause one to be on the computer much longer than anticipated, strain the eyes, costly to print and not as affective. Due to these reasons our books are physical books that you can write in, highlight and take with you wherever you go. Overall the books we provide create a more effective and positive learning environment for your students.

Q: Do you have financial aid?

  • We are nationally accredited and recognized by the Department of Education. Therefore, financial aid is available for those who qualify. Applying for this funding is free and available online. Federal Student aid is available for those who qualify. Our Financial Aid department is available to cover any questions you might have.

Q: Do you have job placement?

  • We have job placement assistance available for our students after they graduate from their program with their national certifications. In order to ensure that students realize their returns on their time and monetary investment, a comprehensive placement program will be available. This placement program will consist of a Career Development course, interactive skill building tools, full service career suite, and staff that will be available to construct an individual placement plan.

Q: What do billers and coders do?

  • A medical biller and coders main responsibility is to provide billing services so the health care provider gets compensated for services rendered to patients. Every medical service provided (treatments, procedures, equipment etc.) has an assigned numeric code. It is their job to look up these codes and enter the information using a database to create a claim (bill). This claim is then sent to the insurance carrier of the patient. Once the claim has been submitted it is then either accepted or denied by the insurance carrier. If the claim is accepted the health care provided is then paid. If the claim is denied it is the medical biller and coder’s job to investigate the reason for rejection. They will make sure the information is checked with the health care provider, before sending the bill directly to the patient. Medical billers and coders may also be responsible for collections and insurance fraud.
